Several months ago a little lady with pig tails handed me a DVD and a CD and asked me to take a listen.
I put the DVD on top of the player - didn't have time to watch. One Saturday morning, I popped it in the player to flip through it. I sat on the side of the bed with one sock on for more than an hour.
I got caught up in the story that Francis Nero had to tell.
Frances was signed to Motown's Soul Label and had moderate success. Her biography takes you through her trials, tribulations and partial success in the music business. Family obligations curtailed her musical career for a while.
She came back with a vengeance in the 1990s with "Footsteps Following Me" that was a chart topper in the United . She toured the UK appearing on several variety television shows.
In 2005 Nero participated in a "Motown Memories" Public Broadcast Service (PBS) special. She has shared the stage and similar experiences and with many of the Motown legends.
Nero is always busy working on artistic projects. She has written songs, books, short stories, plays, movies and a documentary. She is such a wealth of knowledge and a joy to talk to.
